Siegal Tax Law’s Favourite Noshs
As you know I love to share all things delicious with my clients, friends, colleagues, and the world. Sadly, there is never enough time for us to get together for proper meals as often as we should, so I wanted to share my favourite “noshs”
Nosh is a yiddish word which means ‘to nibble’ – a snack between meals. That is what this list is for - a snack to enjoy before the next time we can have a proper meal.
Here are my top recommendations for the best ways to nosh in Toronto. Keep checking as I will update this page whenever I find something else delicious to order

If there is one food to try this year it is Birria – my son’s favourite food. Get the gringa which adds cheese. Birria originated in Jalisco. Beef is slowly cooked in a flavorful consommé combining the beef with spices and aromatics like chiles, garlic, and oregano. A bowl of consommé is providing for dipping your birria taco and dip you must.

The best jewish deli in Toronto. Get the pastrami and order it ‘hand cut’ for an even juicer experience. Great matzoh ball soup as well.

On a cold winter day, I love a big bowl of Pho and the Golden Turtle in Ossington is the best. Go for #13 with the spicy broth. If you know, you know.

Our favourite thai food – probably the most stressful recommendation on the list as there is not a single standout dish to recommend. Order more than once - rotate between the Pad Gra rice dish, the Khao Soi curry and the not to be missed Pad Thai/See noodle dishes all are exceptional.

With the closing of Momofuku, Banh Mi Boys became the go-to place for a steamed bao. At just $5 dollars the chicken and pork belly baos are the perfect nosh.
-
The original Toronto chicken wing that led to the St. Louis chain (fun fact – St. Louis is named for Saint Louis Nemes – the owner of Bistro). A local celebrity, a recent highlight for me is that one restaurants reopened after the COVID-19 lockdowns, I ran to see Louis and landed on the CBC news.

Simple, casual, Japanese – perfect for a nosh. A reasonably priced quick and easy lunch pick is their two-for-one Spicy Crispy Salmon Rolls – while not the fanciest this is my go to Uber Eats order.
-
Some of the best shawarma and mankeesh anywhere. It’s the type of place where you want to try everything so get a spread. The CBC did a great profile.

The pea soup. Sometimes I pretend to be sick just to get that pea soup. Order the Greek salad with the spinach dressing to go with it.

The name says it all amazing gyros – make any day the Taste of the Danforth. Make sure to get the Greek salad which is made properly with cucumber, tomatoes, peppers and NO lettuce.

The closest thing to my smash burger you can get. It is the go-to place om Canada for George Motz – the world’s leading burger expert. Motz is not wrong.
